"This has been the best summer of my life. I had no idea what I was getting myself into with this position. I had significantly less journalistic experience than everyone else in the office, and I was incredibly nervous that I would feel out of place or fall flat on my face. I went in with the mindset that I wanted to work hard enough to write one really great story and, if everything went perfectly, five stories total. Now, at the end of my tenure, I have written over 30 stories, and I am incredibly proud of almost all of them (except the weather report lmao). From the very first day, editor Andy Hobbs put complete trust in me, gave me the lesson on Journalism 101, and sent me off to cover a story. In under 4 hours on the job, I interviewed the mayor of Federal Way and wrote my first article. It was a surreal experience that would not have been possible without Andy’s support and reporter Josh Solorzano’s help, so thank you so much. While the job has been incredible and I love being able to meet and interview so many different people with unique stories, it is the people I get to work with every day that make working fun. When I needed help, everyone was so kind, polite, and helpful. Countless laughs were shared in the office over sports, politics and life itself. If I did not have to work on stories, I would have gladly spent my summer driving to the office everyday just to talk about the new presidential debate or discussing our favorite Olympic events. This has been the best job I have ever worked in my life, and it is everyone around me that made that possible. This has been a dream summer. I am so thankful and fortunate to have this opportunity, and hopefully I will have the opportunity to see everyone in the office and in this great King County community again next summer."
